Khristenko Viktor Borisovich

Industry and Trade Minister of the Russian Federation

 

Viktor B. Khristenko was born on August 28, 1957, in Chelyabinsk. He graduated from Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute, where he obtained his degree in construction management and economics.

In 1995 he graduated from the Academy of National Economy, the Government of the Russian Federation, holds Ph. D. (Economics) degree, and is the author of a number of research publications.

Viktor Khristenko was elected Deputy, Chelyabinsk City People's Deputies Council in 1990. From 1991 to 1996 he served as Deputy Governor, Chelyabinsk Oblast.

Mr. Khristenko was appointed Representative Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in Chelyabinsk Oblast in 1997.

Viktor Khristenko served as Deputy Finance Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation from 1997 to 1998.

Mr. Khristenko was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation in 1998, and from 1998 to 1999 he served as First Deputy, Minister of Finance of the Government of the Russian Federation.

In May 1999, Dr. V. B. Khristenko was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation, and on January 10, 2000 was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Viktor Khristenko is Member, Board of Directors, Gazprom.

On March 9, 2004 Viktor B. Khristenko was appointed the Russian Federation Minister for industry and energy.

On May 12, 2008 Viktor B. Khristenko was appointed Industry and Trade Minister of the Russian Federation.

Viktor Khristenko is married, three children.
