Strategy
Gazprom is implementing the strategic task of increasing gas production volumes. The development of promising fields is planned with regard to the comprehensive and synchronized upgrade of gas production, transmission, processing and storage capacities. In particular, the Urengoy gas transmission hub expansion and the Northern Tyumen Regions (SRTO) – Torzhok gas trunkline construction are in progress today in order to withdraw additional gas volumes from the Nadym – Pur – Taz region.
SRTO – Torzhok
Starting from 1995, Gazprom has been constructing a gas pipeline from the Urengoy field located in the Western Siberia to the town of Torzhok, one of the key points of the Unified Gas Supply System. The gas pipeline will be a crucial element of the functioning multiple Urengoy – Nadym – Peregrebnoye – Ukhta – Torzhok gas transmission system. It will enable to boost gas supply capacities to consumers of Russia’s Northwestern region and will secure gas exports via the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline.
Technical features
The gas pipeline length is at 2,200 km; its design capacity varies from 20.5 to 28.5 bcmpa at different sections.
Current Status
In 2006 the linear part of the gas pipeline and four compressor stations out of 13 planned ones were fully commissioned.
In 2007 3 compressor stations were commissioned.
In 2008 another two compressor station are planned for commissioning.
The completion of the pipeline facilities is slated for 2011.
