On data unification concerning gas pipeline technical condition
Corporate statutory documents “Pipeline Open Data Standard” and “Methodic Guidelines on Compiling Electronic Executive Documentation “as designed” for Gas-Main Pipelines” were implemented by the order of Gazprom Management Committee Chairman.
The documents recommend Gazprom’s companies and contractors to compile, systematize and store technical data on gas main pipeline facilities under construction and subsequent operation. First the standards will be applied to the Nord-Stream gas pipeline under construction.
At the same time these documents unify composition and structure of data compiled to provide possibility for their further application in corporate information systems. In the standard “Pipeline Open Data Standard” (PODS) data base format is determined to reflect equally, exactly, unambiguously the structure and current technical condition of different pipeline systems. The PODS has been worked out based on recommendations of non-profit international organization – PODS Association.
Choice of the PODS as the unified structure of data on gas main pipelines establishes foundation to unite efforts of service companies, designers and suppliers for software, system integrators to create efficiently functioning information systems on different aspects of activity at the Gazprom Headquarters and companies.
Materials to study the PODS and recommendations on its application can be obtained here (only in Russian).
